Gundara - fair traded leather bags from Afghanistan

Leather Bags Traded in a Fair Way from Afghanistan

Gundara's Leather Bags are traded in a fair way.

Our definition of fair is the following:

  • Between the leather bag producers and us there is no distributor
  • About 30% of the selling price of the leather bags go back to the producers in Kabul
  • Gundara altogether supports 10 families with an additional income
  • Gundara markets leather bags and other products produced in Afghanistan that would otherwise not reach the European or even world market
  • Like this Gundara supports the economic development and the reconstruction in Afghanistan and offers Afghan craftsmen a more long-term perspective
  • Gundara is directly in touch with the producers of the leather bags and can therefore guaranty that the working conditions are alright and that child labor e.g. does not take place
  • Gundara is not certified as fair, as there is so far no label to certify fair-traded leather bags
  • Gundara sends a positive message from Afghanistan: It shows that nice and high-quality leather bags can come from Afghanistan!
